                                                         ISLANDS

                                                        The price of freedom is solitude
                                                        whether dealing in love or politics
                                                        So they exile us to a Place Apart
                                                        these islands that provide the last
                                                        resort for men who discount
                                                        the unanimous accord of the shoal 
                                                        the limestone placidity of the coral
                                                        These islands of distant angles
                                                        boxed between glaciers
                                                        that roar and rend the volcanic
                                                        tuff already fossilized These islands
                                                        of daily rain and cold
                                                        with little to say and only sometimes
                                                        if flesh demands do we love each other
                                                        furiously and silent These islands
